Postal vehicles

This is the smallest of the museum’s postal history collections, showing vehicles used for postal and telephone services or programme broadcasting. Beside the original vehicles, their reconstructions and technical models can also be observed. There are almost a dozen drawn carriages displayed, which were given to the museum after World War II. These are the earliest examples of postal vehicles. The experimental postal vehicles used at the turn of the century and the motorcycles from the 1950s and ’60s were all purchased from private collectors. The vehicle collection is being improved with 2-3 pieces each year through official offerings and collection. Unavailable vehicles are reconstructed with the use of models and replicas. With the exception of handcarts, all vehicles can be observed in our exhibition areas in Budapest and other locations (Balatonszemes, Nagyvázsony, Ópusztaszer).
