The collection of documents and documents of the Postal Museum primarily collects documents and documents of historical value or source value relating to the history of the Hungarian post, telecommunications and broadcasting, as well as documents and documents suitable for illustration, as well as the notes, manuscripts, correspondence and documents of historical figures who played a prominent role in the history of the post, telecommunications and broadcasting.


This collection contains documents that are unique in terms of their production method and are suitable for documenting and demonstrating the evolution and development of post, telecommunications and broadcasting, as well as individual phenomena of technical, economic and organizational development, scientific research, vocational training and some characteristic moment of the professional or social activity of the employees.

Historical technical drawings of postal, telecommunications and broadcasting belonging to the Postal Museum and related documentation materials, as well as technical descriptions, technical handling descriptions, factory albums and other technical information materials can be found in this collection._cc781905-5cde-3194 -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_The collection primarily covers works related to domestic technical development, as well as blueprints, sketches and drawings made by outstanding technical creative engineers, and their copies. Drawings that can be evaluated historically also include some study drawings and diploma plans made by students of vocational education institutions and educational institutes.

The Postal Museum primarily collects maps and cartographic products that contain data that can be evaluated from a postal, telecommunications, and broadcasting historical perspective. The collection covers maps containing postal, telecommunications and broadcasting historical information made at any age and using any technique, geodetic surveys, plans recorded with cartographic tools and methods, regardless of whether they were realized, as well as relief maps and globes, as well as copies made with any technique of rare items preserved in other collections that are significant from the point of view of the history of post, telecommunications and broadcasting.

Collection of images and representations

 

From the point of view of any branch of postal, telecommunications and broadcasting history, representations, images and sculptures that are of historical value, documenting in the form of non-technical drawings, regardless of the technique of their production, are placed in the collection of postal history images and representations. The collection covers facilities, their construction, procedures, work tools, vehicles, work processes, events, inventions, technologies, as well as depictions of outstanding personalities of the postal, telecommunications and broadcasting services.


Placement in the collection is not a condition for the artistic value of the representation, the character of a work of art. Museum value is determined by the historical or informative value of the subject of the representation. From this point of view, it does not matter whether the representation in question is a painting, engraving, photograph or other technique, perhaps a postcard or a print.

Postal service and small print collection

 

The Postal Service and small print collection includes the postal, telecommunications and broadcasting services or other postal historical information. The conceptual scope of the small print includes all publications that are duplicated or made using printing techniques, contain text and possibly illustrations, and are not, by their very nature, books. Its scope usually does not exceed one printing sheet, and it does not contain a study for scientific or professional purposes. These include various mail handling forms, delivery receipts, delivery notes, telegrams, stickers, sticker numbers, service forms, regulations, circulars, fee schedules, etc. Public information propaganda and publications made for advertising purposes - such as posters, flyers, brochures, information booklets, etc. – are also found in this collection.

Sound memorabilia, multimedia collection

 

The museum collects audio recordings of the reminiscences of postal, telecommunications and broadcasting workers and other persons related to their institutions, audio tapes of conversations with important personalities, audio recordings of horn signals, musical works, songs related to the post office and the postal service on audio tape, audio disc, CD or any other on sound carrier material. In recent years, the scope of the collection has expanded to include multimedia media that contain not only audio recordings, but also audio, images, moving images, and animations.

The museum collects moving films and video recordings of professional history-related events, prominent people, technical equipment, and technological processes. The collection covers educational, informative, propaganda and feature films, as well as their details, regardless of the width, length, type, silent or loudness of the medium.

In the Postal Museum, material that forms a unit related to a specific subject area, collected through museum research work or in other ways, as well as material belonging to the person of the person who handed it over or the collector, or possibly material related to a person or work that has already been transferred to the Postal Museum as a collection group, is treated as a separate collection, thematic material . Such a collection can come from a legacy, from a thematic collection carried out purposefully by the museum, or even from collections of copies.
